Hello all! New here and new to the UDS world. Just put mine together Thursday and did a season burn on Friday and cooked some ribs today(turned out great btw). I didn't have any issues controlling temp but how the heck to I turn the dang thing off? All vents closed for 6 hours and it's still 250*? Exhaust isn't really tight. Any help? I'm being cheap and don't want to waste 3/4 bag if I don't need to!

It will also help with controlling the temps. Some drums need it more then others. I would use it regardless. Make sure the lid is sealing tight in order to snuff out the fire. If it rocks put some heavy bricks on the high spots when done cooking and it will help seal it off and eventually may help make it flat.

My vent spins easily and doesn't fit tight against the lid. Would that make a difference? Not sure if I heed a stronger spring?!
