How deep to insert meat thermometer probe?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but wondering how deep to put the 732s probe in a pork butt.

Try to get the tip to about the centre of the meat.

I have found that the more of the probe in the meat the better the readings are. On a chicken breast I would insert long ways to get at least 2 inches of the probe in the meat.
