First drum

Just got my first drum delivered from Bubba Barrels. Fedex man asked what it was for then where i got it so he can get his own smoker. My question is how to burn out the first time? Use fire wood and build big fire? Or use another method? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Either that or get it sandblasted inside and out. I prefer the sandblasting as opposed to burning it. It's almost paint ready then.

I agree with Salmonsmoker regarding sandblasting.

If you got it from Bubba i'm assuming it's stainless steel like mine. I just cleaned mine out real good then after putting it together I loaded it up with a bag of charcoal and fired it off. Opened the vents all the way and let it get up around 400 degrees for a couple of hours. But if it has a liner by all means have it sandblasted!
