Hey there, Drum Smokers!

BPS has just released a new (and long awaited) upgrade to the Drum Smoker Kit, The BBQ Guru Adapter! We're always getting questions from customers that are concerned about maintaining pit temperature, and the BBQ Guru has always been a favorite solution for taking the guesswork out of pit temp control.

To install the BBQ Guru Adapter on your Drum Smoker, all you need to do is replace one your stock vent sliders with the new adapter. The BBQ Guru Adapter is designed to work with the BBQ Guru Pit Viper 10cfm.

Come check it out on our website!

I knew this was coming from inquiring about it but went with plan B instead....glad i did. BBQ Guru sells a 3/4 inch ball valve adapter and works out better for me because i can use my guru or pitmaster iq on it. I can also keep the ball valve closed and use my BPS like normal....works out much better imo. I believe i have a post on here if not i'll post a pic.

This just shows how little I know. I'm not buying (at least this summer) a BBQ Guru for what was supposed to be a relatively inexpensive way to get into smoking meat. But I'm glad to now know it exists.

OK lets try to communicate here....We came up with a product that most of you requested and tons of people on the sales line.
Babel there are a ton of reasons where this is making the drum better....it puts the drum iin the same class as $2,000. smokers and still for very little money. SHould we stop innovating?

Fwidsmoker....I know =that you mean well and love your solution...go ahead and post a separate thread. THis thread is me announcing a product that tons of people asked for both here and on the sales line and through customer service. I have one advantage over you in this...I have tried both and disagree that yours is easier or better. Want to use your drum normally? slide in slide out...no extra holes...simple

Yea sorry wasn't thinking! Just easier for me personally since I have a pitmaster also that I use.

I think your new product looks AWESOME!

Nice. I have been looking to add a controller. I like that I could add and remove without extra drilling. Thanks for adding to an already great design. I look forward to seeing what else y'all have up your sleeve.

I curious why the partyq isn't recommended. Just not enough power in the blower?

Definitely a miss understanding on what I was saying. I think it is great that both the guru and adapter exist. I'll likely get one, just not yet (since I don't have a guru and only learned about the guru by reading this forum). Like I said, I'm new to smoking. A month ago, I was struggling to maintain temp on my webber gas grill with webber smoker box making ribs. The soaked chips would eventually flame up and the temp would shoot up in the box. So I figured, I need to upgrade to something, and settled on a drum. I was going to go the route of doing it on my own, until watching many youtube video's on making the basket. I then decided there has got to be someplace to purchase a kit. Did a quick search and found out there was! And not only that it was recommended by the guy that runs a website I was reading and trusted. So I took the plunge and couldn't be happier. I'm thrilled with my drum, and will likely upgrade a little at a time. Maybe next year I'll get the guru, but just can't afford it this summer.

Thanks for making a great product.

The Party Q Guru works great on the drum...I will attest...as does PitmasterIq

will this adapter fit the Pitmaster IQ? Thanks for making this available. That is a really cool addition.

chingador the Pitmaster has a 3/4" adapter (you have to ask for the 3/4) as well as a 1" adapter to go on the hose. You might want to ask BP if he has or would make a plug to go into his adapter with female threads.

You'll see on my post that i have both guru and pitmaster so my choice was to get 3/4 inch adapters to screw into a ball valve. Big Poppa just might be able to do a plug with a threaded female end if you don't go the ball valve route that i did. It would be great if he did because he could serve both products with 1 adapter.

Chingador when i go by Lowes i'll figure out an adapter you could use w/ Big Poppas if you want.... It's pretty simple, Guru uses these fat rubber washers to fit tight in the tube, you basically just need that in addition to an expander to go up to 3/4 female. Order the 3/4 adapter from Pitmaster and you'll be in business.

Will you make a Stoker version?
Stoker makes a adapter to use with the BBQ guru adapter or you can use a 1 1/4 inch copper coupler to connect it.
I use our BPS drum to cook a Tri tip . Running the first 5 hours at 200 and then increase to 225 until Tri tip was 205. All air came from a 10 CFM stoker fan. I only wish BP had these when I was retrofitting our drum
