What steps do you do after sandblasting your barrel? As far as prep of can, then seasoning. Thanks in advance.

:)Keep it dry so rust doesn't develop. If you're painting right away, the best way to clean the exterior is to wipe it down with an after wash. The one that comes to mind is made by Jasco and you can find it at HD in the paint section. It will clean all of the sandblast residue off and clean the steel and it's fast drying. Then tack cloth it to pick up any lint or fibers from the after wash rag and paint. After painting, wipe down the interior with a food grade vegetable oil and do a seasoning burn. Then cook some food. Remember, no paint inside the drum.:)

Thanks! I didn't know you didn't paint the interior, how do you keep it from rusting inside? Also, what temp should the seasoning be at?

The oil coating and smoke deposits keep the inside from rusting. I used a half full basket of charcoal and let it run with vents open. I think it hit about 450F or so, maybe more. Then get cooking!
