the door is just in the middle of it. nice when refilling the coal when you go lo & slow without opening the lid too much. 
it was made of an second drum, so was the deflector. I thought it could be drilled some holes into the deflector to let some grease trough. personal I'm thinking of an baking stone instead of the water pan. so my drum will be pretty international : BP - Drum kit - USA, the baking stone - Denmark, and the drum from Norway
