UDS with Guru

Guys, I'm looking at building a new UDS and was wondering something. Instead of building it with three air inlets how well would it work if I just built it with one air inlet and used that inlet for a BBQ Guru? Is that a bad idea?

no but you can biuld it with the sliders and all and then buy the guru adaptor and have the best of moth worlds

Both of our drums are set up for a guru. After trying all the possible ways, the best we found is to control the drum with the vents short of the temp you want and let the guru just help get the last bit. The BPS drum vents work real good by the way.

What BP and Jim said. That way, you'll be able to use the drum in places where there's no electricity

Thanks guys. I don't compete so this will just be for around the house use. The last drum I built didn't turn out as well as I had hoped so I'm going to attempt another one. The ONLY reason I want to even use a Guru is for overnight cooks when I want to get some sleep. Otherwise I find that the drum holds temp just fine. I guess I want the Guru for "insurance" lol. Thanks again for the info. I do like the sliding vents on the BPS drum kit.

If you choose the BP EDS, give it a test run once or twice and get your temps dialed in and you can literally sleep while it works.

I ran mine a little while back and had to dash to town for a quick 10 or 15 minutes. 3 hours later when I got home, it was right dead on where I had left it. The slider intakes on the kit are second to none. And I agree with the option for the guru. Go with the slider vents and get a guru adapter. Best of both worlds.
