Big Poppa Smoker Kit + Valve/pipe air inlet?

I will be ordering the big poppa smoker kit, but one thing I like about a lot of homemade kits is the pipe and valve air inlet. Has anyone combined these two instead of using the factory BPS one? Thanks!

I have two BPS kit drums one with the BPS vents and one with the pipe and valve set up. I prefer the BPS vents.
