Jack Daniels barrel smoker help

Hey guys, I am building a couple smokers out of JD whiskey barrels (wood). I have them just about complete but i am having trouble coming up with a charcoal tray, water tray and ash tray. I have about 20" diameter at the bottom of the barrel to work with and maybe a total of 7"-10" tall. Anyone have any good ideas? I need to keep them on the cheep. And do I really need a water tray? Thanks

I have seen some wine barrel smokers that the guy used the bowl from a 14" Weber Smokey Joe. If you've got 20" on the bottom you might try an 18" kettle bowl, a deep dish pizza pan or tray for an ash pan. craigslist is your friend for the kettle. I think if I were going with a wooden vessel for the smoker, I might put a water pan in it. You can get a large stainless steel mixing bowl at a restaurant supply for that.
