Perfect day to try my hand at cooking in my fireplace with a Dutch Oven.
Got a fire going to make a supply of hot coals to cook over. Here's my tuscan grill that allows my leg less DO to sit 4" over the coals.
Got together the veggies and chopped them up. Combined them with 10 cups of veggie broth, SnP, and Italian seasoning and waited till the fire burned down.
Moved the coals under the grate and brought the stew to a boil. Removed 3/4 of the coals and let everything simmer for 20 minutes.
While it was simmering, i made the dumpling dough with bisquick then dropped it in by the spoonful. Let it cook 10min uncovered then 10 covered and it was done.
I'll tell you, not only did it smell and taste good, it was a fun cook too. Can't wait to try another recipe.
